The ALS Association NC Chapter #StayHome4ALS Engagement Campaign

We understand that ALS creates challenges and stress for our families and the additional uncertainty in these unprecedented times only adds to that stress. Please know that we are still here for you, whether by telephone or email. You are the sole purpose of our Chapter and that will not change. You are some of the strongest people we have had the pleasure to meet and we will get through this together. As Americans we stand together, especially in times of crisis. Learn more about our operations and service during the pandemic here.

The safety and well-being of our ALS community is our highest priority. With this in mind, we have decided to postpone our spring Walks to Defeat ALS®. This decision was made based on national and state public health guidance, and in consultation with neurologists from our North Carolina multidisciplinary ALS clinics. It is crucial that we do not unnecessarily expose people living with ALS, their caregivers and those in contact with them to the coronavirus.

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have rescheduled all three of our spring Walk to Defeat ALS® events.

* September 12: Triangle: web.alsa.org/triangle
* October 10: Down East: web.alsa.org/downeast
* October 31: Winston-Salem: web.alsa.org/winstonsalem

We have chosen to postpone, not cancel, in order to raise the funds necessary to fulfill our priorities of providing critical care services for people living with ALS in our community and funding for research. When new dates are secured for these walks, we will contact you immediately with the new date, time and location (if necessary).

Additionally, we are suspending our in-person connection support groups at least until May. Call-in options will be made available. We also recommend that all people living with ALS and their caregivers check in with their clinic staff before going to a clinic appointment.

We will continue to closely monitor national and state public health guidance on dealing with the coronavirus.

In the meantime, we encourage all of our participants, and walk teams who are registered to use this added time to continue to fundraise. Donations are still being accepted, and encouraged through the walk websites (links above).

For the most recent information about dealing with the Coronavirus we recommend that you reference the websites for the CDC and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Thank you for your understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Keep up with all of our Walks here.
