Please consider joining our team in the Walk to Defeat ALS® or choose a team member from the list and donate to our cause.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by ALS. Often referred to as Lou Gehrig's Disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe.
Why We Need Your Help
Team Gene Genies is walking in honor of Mary Luper (pictured above with her husband, son, and friend). Mary was an elementary teacher for 20 years. She was diagnosed with ALS September of 2014. She has a type of ALS that runs in families, only 5% to 10% of cases. Her grandmother, mother and brother died from ALS.
The ALS Association is the only national non-profit organization fighting Lou Gehrig’s Disease on every front. By leading the way in global research, providing assistance for people with ALS through a nationwide network of chapters, coordinating multidisciplinary care through certified clinical care centers, fostering government partnerships, and providing patients with grants to help with expenses.
Thank you so much,
Tony and Mary Luper
